This is a practical, 3 day residential, bed and breakfast course at Glangwili Mansion, covering the essential elements that will enable you to set up, manage and market a successful B&B business.

If you would like the opportunity to get involved with cooking breakfast, waiting table or servicing rooms, you would be most welcome, but it is not compulsory.

Day 1 – Getting to Know You

Arrive late afternoon at Glangwili Mansion and settle in.

Informal round table discussion over dinner at Glangwili Mansion.

Day 2 – Setting up your B&B business

We will cover the essential elements of setting up - including importance of location, competitors, premises lay out, equipment, fixtures and fittings the standard you wish to achieve, the legal aspects and knowledge of the tourism product in the area.

Light lunch provided - evening to yourselves.

Day 3 - Marketing and Business Planning

Amongst the elements covered will be website design, branding, booking systems, working with OTA’s (online travel agents), pricing structures, booking and cancellation policies, social media and PR opportunities, the importance of networking, consideration of review sites and how to handle complaints. Assistance with your business planning and preparation of spreadsheets to monitor and manage your occupancy.

Light lunch provided – evening to yourselves.

Day 4 – Running your B & B

The day to day practicalities of running your business – what makes a good breakfast, hygiene standards, service level, managing guest expectations to name but a few.

Departure is flexible but normally early afternoon.

Cost of Course

The course includes three nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, three days training, course materials and the meals indicated in the agenda. We will also offer ongoing support in the form of telephone calls etc. until you get comfortable with your business.

Based on two people sharing a room, the total cost is £970 per couple with a maximum of two couples per course to ensure the course is targeted to your business needs and not be too generic.

If two people are going into business together, we recommend that they both attend the course to ensure that everybody is up to speed and to give your business the best chance of being successful.

For single attendees there would be a reduction of £100.

The course is bespoke and will be tailored to your specific needs – whether you are in the early stages of buying and setting up your B&B from scratch or if you are buying an existing B&B but have never been in the industry before.
